Herbal Ovarian Cysts Treatment

by Paula

Ovarian cysts treatment is unfortunately one of subject very familiar to us.

I have a lot of friends (an alarming percentage, I would say) facing ovarian cysts problems.

For some friends, cysts are didn't mean serious trouble, for others it is a constant reason for concern. They are always praying that the next gynecological examination would not show an increase of the cysts. There is also the worst case scenario when the doctors recommend surgery.

Functional ovarian cysts occur as a result of ovulation and affect women from an early age. An ovarian cyst is a blister (a bag) with liquid called a follicle, that contains the egg.

When there is an ovulation (release of an egg from the ovary) the follicle doesn't rupture, and grows more with each menstrual cycle. Some rupture by themselves and disappear spontaneously, but others can grow very large, up to 6-10 cm (any ovarian follicle greater than 2 cm is considered an ovarian cyst).

What are the ovarian cysts symptoms

In most cases, my friends didn't had any symptoms and found about ovarian cysts when they did their regular checkups.

However, some women will present symptoms like: pressure, cramps in the abdomen and in the pelvic area, lumbar region pain, pain during intercourse, urinary disorders, heavy menstrual periods, irregular menstrual cycles.

Causes of functional ovarian cysts

It is hard to pinpoint exactly what causes the appearance of ovarian cysts. A general answer would be the hormonal imbalances in the body.

Repeated exposure to high concentrations of estrogen hormones (both those in our own body and xenoestrogens - assimilated through unhealthy foods), to the detriment of progesterone, also leads to ovarian cysts.

Other possible causes are thyroid dysfunction, which may generate sex hormones imbalances, excess body fat combined with insulin resistance cells (early stage of diabetes).

But by far, the modern woman's lifestyle (increased mental stress, unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, lack of relaxation, uncontrolled use of contraceptives, antidepressants, medications, etc..) is one of the major causes of the occurrence of ovarian cysts.

Functional ovarian cysts treatment

To find an ovarian cysts treatment, you first need to know of what nature are your ovarian cysts. To a large extent, they are formed in pre-menstrual period and are usually eliminated at the cycle. In this case a gynecological examination is relevant 10 days after the menstrual cycle.

Usually, doctors recommend contraceptives. The explanation lies in the fact that ovulation occurs through a hormonal mechanism, and the fastest and most logical remedy is to pause the ovulation, hence the contraceptives.

Ovulation no longer occurs, so a possible cause leading to the formation of cysts is excluded. Obviously, already formed cysts will not withdraw instantly, but it prevents others from developing.

Besides allopathic treatment, it is possible to treat cysts naturally with herbal remedies.

Herbal ovarian cysts treatment is neither short nor simple, but it is very effective and without side effects.

You can use 3 types of herbs to fight ovarian cysts:

You can also mix the herbs to help the ovarian cysts resorption:

1. An infusion from equal parts Lady's mantle (Alchemila vulgaris) and Raspberry (Rubus idaeus) is an ovarian cysts treatment which requires more time for preparation (as any combined infusion), but we should not spare any effort for our health.

  • Put 5 tablespoons of mixture (Lady's Mantle and Raspberry) in 2 cups of warm water overnight (cold macerate);
  • Strain the liquid and put it aside.
  • Soak the plants remaining after filtration in another 2 cups of boiling water and let it cool.
  • Strain and mix with the cold macerate.
Drink 4 cups of this tea for 3 months.

Lady's Mantle is also ideal for menstrual cramps, preferably taken in tincture form.

2. For a second ovarian cysts treatment and for polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), combine in equal proportions the following herbs (powder):

Take 1 tablespoon of this mixture 4 times daily on an empty stomach.

You can supplement this treatment with Horsetail warm poultices applied on the ovaries area. After you take off the poultice, do a gently massage.

3. Some women reported their cysts had shrinked after just one month of treatment, then slowly disappearing altogether, with a tea blend from Yarrow, Marigold and Nettle.

Some of them only dranked 1 cup of tea in the evening, while others dranked 2 cups per day. The duration of the treatment is not the same for all - some women followed the treatment for only one month, while others followed it for 3 months.

Decide with your phytotherapist physician which dose and duration is right for you.

4. An ovarian cysts treatment with Common Hogweed (Heracleum sphondylium) and Dill or Raspberry shoots tincture had excellent results.

Take the mix 3 times daily. The treatment takes at least a month, so have a patience.

5. A treatment with good references is a combination of Blackcurrant buds extract and Raspberry buds extract.

Follow the treatment for 2 months with 1 month break. After 2 months of treatment you should do a checkup. You will be happy to find your cysts have gotten smaller.
