What do hemorrhoids look like

Hemorrhoids are swelling and inflammation of veins in the rectum and anus. They occur in adults of both sexes.

There are several types of hemorrhoids:

Hemorrhoids symptoms

You can take warm sitz baths with these herbs. They will relieve pain and if there is bleeding use propolis suppositories which have cicatrizing effects.

Treatment refers to external applications and internal administration of herbal preparations. External applications have an antiseptic, soothing, haemostatic and healing action.

1. Oak bark (Cortex Quercus)Make an Infusion from 100 grams / 3.53 oz of oack bark in 1 liter / 33.81 oz of boiled water, then filter. Apply repeated compresses.

Oak sitz baths have a strong astringent action. Make a tea from oak bark, Sage and Chamomile and do 2-3 baths daily.

2. Birthwort (Aristolochia clematitis). The plant is especially recommended for external hemorrhoids.

External hemorrhoid treatment
Prepare an infusion from 5 tablespoons Brithwort and 2 liters / 67.63 oz of boiling water. This infusion is used for sitz baths, in the evening, before going to bed. These baths should take about 15 minutes to provide hemorrhoid relief.

3. Yarrow (Achillea millefolium). Through its haemostatic (stops bleeding) and cicatrizing effects, it acts favorably on external hemorrhoids.

Use it in sitz baths, compresses with flower decoction prepared from 60 grams / 2.12 oz in 1 liter / 33.81 oz of water. Use of this plant was recommended in bleeding hemorrhoid even by Hippocrates.

For internal treatment, it is also beneficial a mix of Yarrow and the Buckthorn bark in an equal mix (a tablespoon of this mixture in 0.25 liters / 8.45 oz of hot water). Drink this decoction 2-3 times a day.

For internal use, Yarrow acts as an hemorrhoid decongestant. In external applications it has anti-inflammatory effects and acts as a disinfectant (baths or compresses).

4. Marigold (Calendula officinalis). This plant has also a cicatrizing and anti-inflammatory action.

For baths and compresses, prepare an infusion of 10 grams / 0.35 oz of flowers and 100 ml of boiling water. For internal treatment, drink 3 cups of tea daily, between meals. Also, as an external application, use Marigold ointment or Marigold and Comfrey (Symphytum officinale) ointment.

5. Chamomile (Matricaria Chamomilla). As an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory herb, chamomile is ideal for treating hemorrhoids. Chamomile tea is recommended internally as well as externally (sitz baths, compresses and ointment).

For internal treatment, prepare an infusion from 1 teaspoon of dried flowers in 200 ml of boiling water and drink 2-3 cups daily after main meals.

You can also apply local compresses with chamomile infusion (2 tablespoons of dried flowers in a cup of boiling water).

For daily hygiene alternate sitz baths with Chamomile and Marigold infusion.

6. Wooly Mullein (Verbascum phlomoides)
Wooly Mullein sitz baths are very useful in improving hemorrhoids. Put 30-60 grams / 1.06 - 2.12 oz of leaves in 1 liter / 33.81 oz of water. Take 2 baths each day, one in the morning and one in the evening before bedtime.

You can use Wooly Mullein in local compresses.

7. Field Horsetail / Common Horsetail (Equisetum arvense). It has an astringent and haemostatic effect and facilitates wound healing.

It is used externally in compresses with a concentrated and prolonged decoction prepared from 100 grams / 3.53 oz to 1 liter / 33.81 oz water.In bleeding hemorrhoid, varicose ulcers, skin ulcers caused by fungal infections (parasitic fungi) you can wash the skin gentle with a cotton ball or use compresses with super-concentrated decoction.

In cases of non-bleeding hemorrhoids you can do concentrated macerate sitz baths with very rapid effects.

Compresses

  1. Boil water in a pot;
  2. Put 2 handfuls of Horsetail in a sieve over the pot;
  3. When the plant is soft and hot, remove it and put it in a clean cloth;
  4. Put the compress on the place.

Compresses have to be hot. Leave them for several hours or leave it overnight.

Mashed Horsetail compresses. Wash fresh Horsetail and crush it. Apply it on painful places (haemorrhoids), or as a compress in a clean cloth.

8. Figwort / Knotted Figwort, Throatwort, Carpenter's Square, Kernelwort (Scrophularia nodosa)
This herb has been used since the XVI century for natural hemorrhoid treatment. Its roots in the form of small tubers have striking similarity with hemorrhoids, which suggested its use as a hemorrhoids remedy to the "signature theory" (resemblance) authors.

Externally you can use it to make cataplasms from boiled leaves. Also you can prepare a decoction of leaves or roots (boil 60 grams / 2.12 oz of Figwort in 1 liter / 33.81 oz of water until it remains 0.25 liters / 8.45 oz of water) which is mixed with flax flour.



9. Bilberry (Vaccinium myrtillus)
Bilberry's active ingredients are flavanoids. Bilberry contains flavonoid pigments known as anthocyanins (also called anthocyanosides). These pigments are strong antioxidants. Antioxidants, such as vitamin E, are substances that prevent decay. In clinical studies, it has shown to be effective in treating weak capillaries by strengthening their walls - it reduces the wearing out of veins.

You can take a cure of Bilberry products in any form.

Eat 500 grams / 17.64 oz of Bilberry each day or drink a decoction obtained from a handful of Billbery, which are boiled in 1 liter / 33.81 oz of water until the amount is reduced by half. Apply it externally in the form of wash and compresses.

Do local baths with concentrated tea from Bilberry leaves 2 times a day or, at least, each time after you use the toilet.

10. Dandelion (Taraxacum officinale)
Dandelion is very good for cleansing a congested liver. The researchers showed that dandelion root help solve the problems of constipation, hepatitis and jaundice. Dandelion has a laxative effect, helping to eliminate toxins from the body. Dandelion can be used in liquid form or capsules and should be taken in the morning before breakfast.

Juice from the dandelion leaves is very useful in constipation and stimulate bile secretion. It is a powerful tonic for the lazy liver with problems caused by alcohol abuse or severe diet. It is rich in magnesium and iron. Use it in biliary lithiasis, rheumatism, anemia, fatigue, obesity, hemorrhoids, cellulite. Drink 2-3 cups a day, before main meals.

11. Greater Celandine (Chelidonium majus)
Chelidonine (one of Celandine alkaloids) helps the liver and gallbladder functions and protects them against toxic attacks. Traditionally, Celandine is used to treat migraines and hemorrhoids. At the same time, it also has a laxative effect.

Celandine can be used as a tea or tablets taken before breakfast and only for a short period of time.

12. Elderberry leaves / Black Elder, European Elder, European elderberry (Sambucus nigra) are known as external topicals.

Make compresses from concentrated infusion with 100 grams / 17.64 oz leaves in 1 liter / 33.81 oz of water.
